What do you think of the new immigration law in Arizona?

Some people say that the new immigration law in Arizona is going to involve racial profiling because it states that law enforcers have the right to ask for legal documentation of anyone that they suspect is illegal. Of course, most illegal immigrants are of hispanic backgrounds. Is this racial profiling, or do they have the right to check any hispanic person for proof of legality?
But is this fair to those hispanics who actually are here legally? And what about people from other countries who are here illegally? Do we let them get a pass just because they aren't Mexican?
So you're telling me that the only way they're going to check for legal documentation is if they happen to pull an illegal immigrant over? What about all those illegal immigrants who aren't speeding? Do they get checked for legal documentation?
Yeah, I get what you're saying. I just don't see how this new law is going to work if they can only enforce it if they catch you committing another crime. Not all illegal immigrants commit crimes--well except for coming to the country illegally. Basically, what it seems is that the "well behaved" illegal immigrants are going to get a pass. I think something needs to be done with illegal immigration, I just don't know what can work other than securing the borders. That's always an option!
I haven't seen the written Arizona law myself, but people say that they can ask for anyone's i.d. that is "suspected" of being illegal. So, to me, it sounds like you don't have to pull anybody over for anything. All you have to do is be suspicious of someone and ask them for their i.d. because you "suspect" them to be illegal. That's why some people are calling it racial profiling. No one will be "suspected" of illegal immigration unless they are hispanic.

If a blond woman killed a child, and I got pulled over just to see if I was the psycho chick, I would not be mad at all, I would want for the law to do there job.
That is why we pay them, I get it all the time, dizzy blond, but I don't take it to heart, and people of different races should not either.
People take things way out of proportion, people need to get over it, allot of African Americans think because you are white, you are bad, and visa versa.... If our government paid more attention Sept. 11 might not have happened. I am a American Mutt, and I would love to not pay taxes and live off our Government for 7 years, like the foreigners that get to live here.
This Country has some major issues, in the 40's and 50's they were looking for Italian's (Mob), you don't hear them complaining. If I did not belong here, Should I have rights, when folks that were born here, don't. This is a very sad issue, I wish folks would stay where GOD put them. Then we would not fight over stuff like this, and maybe there would be no wars...and if you want to be technical...America Indians own this land....It was stolen from them, we should feel bad for them, ya think?????
I'm sorry, I read a lot of Rebecca's blogs and their good, but that response to this particular issue is over the top and seems like it wasn't well thought out. Sounds sort of like a rant or something. I feel both of you are a bit delusional about this issue. Everyone needs to stay where God put them? You can't be serious. Some people don't understand the idea of racial profiling because they themselves, or "their people" never had to deal with it. "Oh, well if someone pulled me over I'll be okay with it." Yeah, sure that's because no one is pulling you over because of your race, and their not asking you to prove that you are a citizen of the U.S. because they "suspect" that you are illegal because you have brown skin. emot84_2

I am sorry.... When I do not feel good, I am a grumpy butt... What I was trying to say is, I hate all the hate. I love everyone Smile that is good people. But others HATE me for my (whatever) like other Countries that hate Americans of all races; and they don't even know us, Prentice is a very bad thing, I see it all the time. I don't know if there is a way to get rid of it, I try to teach my son and his friends not to pick on others, of any race, size, or whatever else people use as an excuse to pick. I was tortured in school, I was hated for my color in High School, and to this day, I don't know why I was hated so badly for?
GOD made us all. We should all try to get along, and what I meant by we should of stay where GOD put us, was stupid, because even the same race of folks fight with each other, and even kill each other; there are allot of bad apples and a few good ones in all races. I think it was because I worked with some girls from Puerto Rico and they told me that Puerto Rico was so beautiful and America sucked, I asked them then why are you living here? They told me for the jobs. I did not understand this.
I understand that the Mexiacan president is trying to handle some of the issues in Mexico that are causing illegals to come here. They have a huge drug problem there, which involves a lot of violence, and some Mexicans are running from the violence. Some of them are unfortunately bringing the violence here, and that's one of the main complaints about illegal immigration. But you know, some of these illegals really are here for the jobs. They do jobs that a lot of Americans don't seem to want to do. As for the hate that you experienced in your life, some of that could have just been jealousy. I don't know why some people hate America when it's us who helps other nations when they are in need. If America wasn't here, the world would be in some deep s--- because no other country helps others the way ours does. I think illegal immigration is a problem, don't get me wrong. They need to secure the damn borders. But you know, we'll see how the Arizona law does...
I usually do not agree with republicans, However. this says it all and really cannot be argued with.

Oh Brother! This Mexican thing is really getting out of hand. This was always on the back burner till the Mexican drug cartels started coming over here kidnapping and killing. Now they want to do somthing about it but have to fight everyone that gets offeneded over bullshit. Everyone crys over everything anymore!

I'm a legal American citizen and I must show my ID when:

1. Pulled over by the police.

2. Making purchases on my department store credit card.

3. When I show up for a doctor's appointment.

4. When filling out a credit card or loan application.

5. When applying for or renewing a driver's license or passport.

6. When applying for any kind of insurance.

7. When filling out college applications.

8. When donating blood.

9. When obtaining certain prescription drugs.

10. When making some debit purchases, especially if I'm out of state.

11. When collecting a boarding pass for airline or train travel.

I'm sure there are more instances, but the point is that we citizens of the USA are required to prove who we are nearly every day! Why should people in this country illegally, be exempt!!!!! Why shouldn't we guard our borders as closely as every other country in the world does? If its profiling then tuff shit! Take the 5 min and show your freaking I.D!

Sorry, But you asked!

Tend to agree. When something good happens people will always complain about it. When its something that people do wrong any more well, Its there god given right.

Strange indeed.
